MATTIA SEDDA : CHOIN

“CHOIN, CHOIN!” call the farmers. “CHOIN, CHOIN!” answer the pigs.

In Sardinia, that’s how farmers summon their pigs to eat—direct, honest, no pretenses. And it’s this call, this moment of surrender, that inspired Mattia Sedda’s debut solo show.

Next date is at Museum of Comedy , 29th May at 7pm.

Mattia Sedda arrives in London with an empty suitcase, broken English, and a dream: to become a professional actor.

But the industry isn’t sure what to make of him. From working restaurant shifts to reciting Hamlet in auditions, CHOIN follows his desperate attempt to fit in, be cast, and belong.

As Mattia performs his “ultimate showcase”—complete with Shakespeare, magic, object play, and physical comedy—what begins as an audition spirals into something far more personal. CHOIN is the hilarious, painful journey of an outsider who tries everything to be someone else, only to discover freedom in embracing who he already is.

Blending clowning, absurdity, and nostalgia, CHOIN explores migration, identity, rejection, and joy—with a pig call at its heart.

Named by Chortle as one of “10 Clowns to See at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe,” CHOIN is as honest and unpredictable as the call that inspired it.

Aitor Basauri, founder of Spymonkey

“The best theatre is brave, courageous and unpredictable and those are the undisputed qualities of Mattia as a performer so his theatre is exactly like him. To be part of something as exciting as that.. more than a job is a present from the Gods of theatre”

Silvia Pellegrino, journalist

“Mattia Sedda the buffoon makes us laugh from start to finish, but Mattia Sedda the man opens small cracks here and there in which he takes on the responsibility of making us also think that being migrants, "fitting" into a rotten society, no longer even recognize ourselves in our gestures it is not so "normal".”

Audience members

"It’s like staring in the eyes of a God”
“I haven’t cried laughing in so long. Thank you for the tears”.
“So appealing, enjoyable. It’s so fun to watch whatever Mattia does. ”
